Based at the "Therapy Room, Sidford"
Serving the people of Sidford, Sidmouth, Seaton, Beer, Newton Poppleford, Honiton, Ottery st Mary, Axminster, Lyme Regis and surrounding areas
In accordance with regulatory body guidelines, I carry out the verbal part of an initial assessment remotely, the rest of the assessment and treatment is carried out face to face.
As well as trying to minimise the time that patients need to spend in the clinic, I am working hard in collaboration with the other therapists here at "The Therapy Room" to ensure a safe environment for those patients who do need a face to face consultation. The public spaces and treatment room are cleaned before and after each patient, steps have been taken to reduce contact time such as arranging for necessary paperwork to be filled in ahead of time instead of onsite, arrangements are made to avoid crossover of patients, temperature checks are carried out, and of course the necessary PPE will be worn.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like my help or have any questions. Please do not enter the clinic without an appointment.
If you, or someone in your household falls into a high risk group, extra effort will be made to avoid a face to face consultation. If this is not effective and the need for treatment is deemed to outweigh the potential risks (in agreement between you and I), I can arrange for you to be my first appointment of the day to further reduce risks.
Physiotherapy is a means of reducing pain, promoting healing and restoring movement and function through a variety of physical methods. Treatments used include manual therapy, movement, taping, electrotherapy and exercise
Formally of East Devon Physiotherapy, for more than 15 years it has been my pleasure to serve the community of Sidmouth and beyond. I am now working from the same premises in Sidford (now know as The Therapy Room), and work as an independent practitioner still offering the same high standards of patient care that East Devon Physiotherapy was known for.
I have more than 20 years of experience working as a physiotherapist treating musculoskeletal and sports injury problems
I am experienced in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems using a range of treatment techniques
Whilst important, advice and exercise is not all that physio has to offer. I offer many physical approaches to treatment in addition to the necessary self Management approaches.
Call, email or text today to see what I can do for you.
Examples of some of the modalities offered can be found in this section. More than one of these modes of treatment may be offered depending on your need. Please feel free to discuss your treatment needs or ask me about the approach taken during a treatment.
Includes techniques such as :
Helps to improve circulation and improve soft tissue mobility to aid healing
tape can be used to support joints and/ or soft tissue to reduce pain, reduce swelling and encourage normal movement. I use a market leading and innovative brand-RockTape when taping.
Helps you to self manage your condition and improve your long term outcome
Targeted exercises aimed at improving joint mobility, strength, control and function can be an important part of improving your short and long term outcome
I have more than 20 years of experience working as a physiotherapist treating musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries. I graduated from Brunel University with a Bsc (Hons) degree in physiotherapy in 1997.
I spent 4 years working in Greater London in the NHS working in various physiotherapy disciplines. During this time I developed an interest in the problem shoulder.
in 2001 I left the NHS to work in a busy private practice in Watford before relocating to Devon in late 2004.
I spent just over a year working at the Nuffield hospital in Exeter where I ran a busy outpatient list treating a variety of patients with musculoskeletal problems and after a variety of orthopaedic surgeries. In this time I further developed my interest in the problem shoulder.
In the Autumn of 2006 I began working at East Devon Physiotherapy in Sidford, managing a varied caseload treating a variety of problems. In 2018 due to a restructuring of the practice I became an independent practitioner and continued to work independently from the East Devon Physiotherapy premises (now known as "The Therapy Room, Sidford")
I continue to treat a wide variety of muscloskeletal problems in patients of all ages from children to the young at heart. I treat many problems including neck, back, shoulder, arm, hip, knee and foot problems. I offer a wide range of treatments. Many people only need one or two sessions but I also treat patients with long term problems who need maintenance treatment. in such cases I work in collaboration with the patient to ascertain the optimal treatment frequency to allow maximal benefit without treating any more than is necessary.
